Temporary residency for up to 2 years, and your cédula.

Your cédula also needs a certificado de vida y residencia, an extra below.

We also help with a driver's license, a power of attorney, notarized documents, an address with a lease and utility bills, a mailbox in Asunción and monthly tax filings. Ask us which fee applies.

How do your fees work?

Our fee for your residency is a flat $350. Extras are $50 each on top of their cost: a RUC, a tax residency certificate, a certificado de movimiento migratorio and a certificado de vida y residencia. Some special services are $100 on top of their cost. Ask us which ones. Official fees and other third-party costs are passed through at cost.

What does the $350 fee cover?

Our work on your residency file: we check your documents before anything is filed, book every appointment, go with you to each office and speak Spanish for you, and follow your file until it's finished. Official fees and other costs aren't in it; you pay those at cost.

What costs do I pay on top of your fee?

The costs are the ones you'd meet doing it yourself: Migraciones' residency fee, the police certificates, the cédula at Identificaciones, notarized copies, Spanish translations, and the apostilles from the country that issued your documents. Migraciones sets its fees in daily minimum wages, so they change when the minimum wage does, most recently on 1 July 2026. Ask us for the current amounts before you pay.

Three ways to get your residency

You can do Paraguay residency on your own. Here's what you pay in each case, and who goes to the offices.

How it works

Five steps from your first message to your cédula.

  1. Pick what you need

Choose your residency and any extras. You see our fee for each, and which costs are passed through.

  2. Send it on WhatsApp

One tap sends your list to us. We reply within 4 hours during business hours.

  3. Get your documents ready

For Paraguay temporary residency you need your passport, a birth certificate from the country where you were born, and a criminal record check, which must come from the country you live in if you've lived outside your birth country for the last 3 years. The birth certificate and the criminal record check each need an apostille and a Spanish translation. One residency agency's guide treats the criminal record check as valid for 6 months from issue. We send you a checklist and review your documents within 48 hours.

  4. Come to Paraguay

We book every appointment and go with you: Migraciones, the police certificates, and Identificaciones for your cédula.

  5. Once approved, collect your cédula

We follow your file in between and keep you posted on WhatsApp. Migraciones decides your application. Once it's approved, you collect your residency card and your cédula on your last trip, and we go with you.

How long it takes

A self-filed case in a residency agency's January 2026 video took about 7.5 months. Published times run long, so we give you a timeline once we've seen your documents.

Is this for you?

It's for you if:

  • You've decided on Paraguay and want temporary residency and your cédula.
  • You want someone with you at Migraciones and Identificaciones who speaks Spanish.
  • You want to know what we charge before you talk to anyone.

It's not for you if:

You want a passport soon.

Residency isn't citizenship. Citizenship is a separate process that takes years longer.

Your passport needs a visa to enter Paraguay.

Message us before you book anything. That visa is a bigger process than the residency itself. Even if you can enter as a tourist, ask us first: a tourist waiver is not a residency waiver.

You don't want to travel to Paraguay.

You attend the appointments in person. Be wary of anyone who promises a cédula without that.

You need tax advice.

We handle paperwork and appointments. For tax questions about your home country, talk to a qualified adviser there.

What we handle

Questions about our Paraguay residency service

How do your fees compare?

Doing it yourself costs about $850 in fees, documents and transport, not counting a RUC, and about 35 hours across three trips; a local lawyer who only guides you charges about $1,500 (estimates a Paraguayan residency agency published in January 2026). The $850 already includes the official fees. With us you pay our flat $350 fee plus the official fees and document costs at cost, and we go with you to every appointment.

Is the fee per person?

Applying as a family? Ask us what our fee is for each person. Each person's official fees and other costs are passed through at cost.

What if Migraciones refuses my application?

Migraciones decides every application, and no one can promise its decision. Ask us how a refusal is handled before you pay.

How long does it take?

A self-filed case in a residency agency's January 2026 video took about 7.5 months, and published times run long. One residency agency reported in October 2025 that, before the cédula is printed, Paraguay asks the home country about the applicant's record, and some countries answer slowly. We give you a timeline once we've seen your documents.

How many trips to Paraguay do I need?

You choose. With three trips, you file, come back for a check, then collect your cédula once it's approved. Two trips skip the middle visit. One trip means you stay in Paraguay until your cédula is ready, which takes months.

What documents do I need?

For Paraguay temporary residency you need your passport, a birth certificate from the country where you were born, and a criminal record check, which must come from the country you live in if you've lived outside your birth country for the last 3 years. The birth certificate and the criminal record check each need an apostille and a Spanish translation. One residency agency's guide treats the criminal record check as valid for 6 months from issue. Common document errors are an apostille on a copy or a translation instead of the original, and names that don't match across the passport, the birth certificate and the criminal record check. We check yours before anything is filed.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No. We speak Spanish with the offices for you and go with you to every appointment to translate.

Is this temporary or permanent residency?

Temporary residency. Under Ley 6984/2022, Migraciones grants it for up to 2 years, and it can be extended for the same length. Citizens of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru can apply on the Mercosur route instead: two years, not extendable, with the cédula once you have permanent residency, which you apply for from 90 days before your temporary card expires. Permanent residency is a later, separate application: under DNM Resolution 407/2026, Migraciones checks your economic solvency in one of twelve categories, with no published minimum amount, and it can deny the application.

Do I have to live in Paraguay to keep it?

Not full time, but there is an absence rule. On temporary residency, Migraciones may cancel the status after more than one continuous year outside Paraguay, unless it has authorized the absence (Ley 6984/2022, Art. 55). Plan to enter at least once every 12 months. Permanent residency can be lost after more than three continuous years away without a justification Migraciones accepts, and that period can be extended (Arts. 54 and 55).

Do I need a visa for Paraguay residency?

Message us with your passport before you book anything. A tourist waiver is not a residency waiver. On Migraciones' visa table (January 2026), citizens of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru are waived for both. Many other passports, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Spain, can enter as tourists and are still marked as needing a visa for the residency step. If your passport needs a visa just to enter Paraguay, that visa is a bigger process than the residency itself.

Is the certificado de vida y residencia the same as proof of address?

No. The certificado de vida y residencia is a police certificate that you're alive and live at a Paraguayan address, and Identificaciones asks for it with your cédula. To get it, you take the local police station a proof of address, a utility bill or a lease at that address, and witnesses with copies of their cédulas. Practitioners say it's accepted for about 3 months, depending on the department. Ask us what you need for yours.

Is a cédula the same as citizenship?

No. The cédula is the ID card Paraguay gives residents. Citizenship is a separate process that takes years longer.

Can I add services later?

Yes. Add a RUC, a tax residency certificate or anything else whenever you need it, each at its own fee on top of its cost. A RUC needs your cédula, and we start a license only after you have it.
